The newly opened Kip McGrath Education Centre is under the directorship of David Hardie. David is a qualified teacher holding degrees in Education and Education Management and had a long career as a teacher and administrator with the Department of Education and the Curriculum Council.

The basic system in Kip McGrath is simple: first, children are assessed to determine their strengths and weaknesses in Reading, Spelling, Comprehension, Writing, Grammar and Maths. This is a FREE comprehensive assessment followed by a consu

ltation with parents. From this assessment a programme can be written based on the individual needs of the student. We also consider individual learning styles as this can have a huge impact on children's learning ability. These elements are what makes Kip McGrath different from other tuition. All programs are customised to best suit the child's individual learning needs.

Children are taught individually within a group setting where an experienced teacher works with a maximum of five students. Each child works on their individual programme and receives one-one assistance as they require it. We will teach basic skills in English and Maths at the level required by the child. Secondary students can also work in areas required for their school programme. Experience shows us that children do not require one-one assistance all the time and as such, we encourage the development of independent learning.

We also cater for children who want to keep up and get ahead at school. Extension programmes and scholarship preparation can also be designed to cater for individual needs. As well we have had enormous success working with students who have learning and attention difficulties. In addition to providing these students with Maths and English tuition, we encourage them to take ownership of their learning and behaviour and develop strategies to overcome challenges.

What We Do

Kip McGrath methods stress systematic approaches to learning, concentrating on the areas of Reading, Spelling, English and Maths. They are suitable for all students needing additional academic support in an environment, which complements classroom learning but attends to the individual.

The programs at Kip McGrath are designed to give students the motivation to succeed. Progress is at the students' own level and pace so they are never overwhelmed.

From the moment students walk into the centre there are clear messages given to them, this a place where they can learn and this is a place where it is fun to learn.
